On March 08 I’ll be heading over to Big Cypress to hangout with my hippie friends. All right I don’t have any hippie friends but this festival started out as a jam band extravaganza. Now they’re including more recognizable names to the lineup. The best part of the concert is that I don’t have to travel a great distance to see cool bands. The lineup for the day I’m going is made up of some indie artists; jam bands, and the one and only REM. Other than REM I want to check out Citizen Cope, Matisyahu, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Ghostland Observatory, and for my nineties nostalgia Arrested Development. I might even check out a jam band but I’ll leave after the ten-minute mark of a song.
Last year I headed over to Indio, California for Coachella and had a blast. This year I’m skipping out. The lineup isn’t very enticing. The headliners aren’t that great. I like Jack Johnson but I don’t think he deserved top billing for Friday. I don’t like Portishead so this booking did absolutely nothing for me. Lastly Roger Waters performing Darkside of the Moon doesn’t really appeal to me. I saw him on concert Earth and his performance wasn’t that good. He can’t sing a lick. I rather see David Gilmore’s Pink Floyd than Roger Waters take. I do like some of the sub headliners like the Verve, Sea Swell, Tegan and Sara, Rilo Kiley, the Breeders but not enough to fly to Cali. Maybe next year it will improve. I keep hoping for the Smiths reunion. Please Golden Voice give the Smiths anything they want so my lifelong musical wish can come true.
Talking about band reunions the rumored lineup for Bonnaroo will include Led Zeppelin, which would kick ass if the rumor were true. Now that’s the band Coachella should have booked. But I’ll believe it when I see it. Which will be too late and I’ll miss out. Like when the rumored Pixies reunion came to fruition and I couldn’t get tickets. I’m still kicking myself for that lost opportunity.
Later
