Please bare with me I haven’t written in a very long time. I’m a bit rusty on the whole blogging thing. This weekend I headed to the movie theater and saw Cloverfield. I absolutely love survival movies. Lets get to the gist of the movie the monster. The monster under whelmed me and the parasites that fell off the beastie were like the monsters in Starship Troopers. As for the actors they were somewhat believable. But I don’t who was dumber Rob or his friends. If I were in the same situation I would’ve told Rob to fuck off. I wouldn’t go back for anyone its every man for himself. As for the shaky camera it wasn’t that bad. The only thing one should consider before viewing the film is to sit far away. That camera is the best damn camera ever created. Warning: minor spoiler alert. It withstood a close encounter with the monster; it survived a chopper crash, and withstood a nuclear attack. At the end of the movie there were some audience members that were clearly disappointed with the ending. But I liked that it didn’t give you a clear answer. Not everything needs to be explained. Otherwise there would be no sequel or prequel for us to enjoy. The movie was entertaining and had its humorous part. I’d see it again in DVD just to see the easter eggs that I might of missed.
On to an independent movie called “Once”. I wasn’t familiar with this movie but I was told to check it out. What can I say after watching this movie? I’ve fallen in love once again and her name is music. This movie captures the struggles of a musician and the magic of songwriting. It’s a musical but not in the gay kind of way. The lead actor is mesmerizing you just want him to keep singing and playing. Words can’t do this movie justice. If you want to see a movie that is anti Hollywood then check out “Once”.
Another anti Hollywood movie that I loved was “Juno”. Ellen Page just plain kicks ass. She’s so believable as a pregnant teen. The script is smart and witty. The soundtrack is simple and quirky. It’s the perfect adoption movie.
The last movie I saw this weekend was “I Pronounce You Chuck and Larry”. I’m not a big fan of Adam Sandler but I enjoyed this movie. It had some really funny parts that played on the whole gay stereotypes. But it never crossed the line that one would feel offended by the antics, which I liked. It was pro gay which is always good.
Till Next Time
